Keeping a note of everything during each stage of production

Keeping a note...

For Single Camera Technique I was asked to create a short film from 5-10 minutes. The first stage of making this single camera film was pre-production I feel this stage went really well, I was in a group with Brittany and Sophie, we worked together with most things but when it came to pre-production we had to organise the paperwork and allocate different paper work for each of us, so each of us was responsible for getting certain pieces of paperwork done for certain dates. I was gave the responsibility of the call sheets, organising all the times, locations and dates etc, the location recce was another piece of paper work I was responsible for, this included  writing where the location to shoot would be and going to the location to see if it is a suited place to film. I was also responsible for holding an Agenda meeting this included taking notes of the production to work out what will be feasible and what wouldn’t.

There were a few problems when it came to shooting out film as for personnel we need quite a few people to cover the character roles as people were already allocated roles from other productions or helping in other productions. There were 4 other people asked by Sophie to be in our film. Just incase for some reason someone couldn’t make it. These were people outside of college who all arranged to help out, but unfortunately they had other important arrangements so they ended up letting us down. As a result of this we had to then sit down, work out and compromise with someone else in another group production, this was hard but because of the amount of time we had to work together and compromise with what we had.

After the production stage we then had to edit our short film, this was the post-production stage. The editing stage took longer than we all expected. We found some parts difficult with getting the timing correct and lined up with the speech, and also the reactions to each other when doing the four point garbage matte as we needed one person to show up on the screen twice but look two different people. The only reason why this took longer than expected was because no-one in our group had ever done garbage matte before so getting use to this took a while with lining up the two shots. The other problem that occurred was when we got to editing a scene that we had shot, it was a lot harder than we originally thought because we only had one angle for each shot, so we couldn’t change shots and make them close up or mid shots etc to hide any occurring imperfections with some master shots,
One of the scenes we shot when watching it back we found that it was extremely windy so the microphone was picking up all the non diagetic sound that we didn’t want as the wind was overlapping the dialogue making it hard for us to hear the character speaking. Because of this we had to re-record the audio in the radio studio so we could take out the old sound and replace it using the new re-recorded sound, we also put some of the wind sound back in so it didn’t sound so lost when listening to it. With re-recording a sound clip this added even more time onto the editing because we had to match up the audio to the lip syncing, and then lowering the volume of the wind. This made all the dialogue clear and to the same decibel as the wind. Unfortunately we ran out of time to be able to edit everything because of the problems, with the shoot that occurred so we couldn’t get everything done that we wanted too. As a result of this we hoped that we can continue the edit and then re-submit it. The things we wanted to add were a soundtrack to enhance the film more, giving it emotion. The other thing we wanted to add a title to the film so it didn’t rush straight into a scene, we also need to fix the sound levels and finish animating the four point garbage matte as there are times were Agne’s (The twin) body collides with the other character making the edit visible and obvious.

Comedy- Bridget Jones Diary

Narrative Structure.
The forth genre I chose to look at is Comedy, within the comedy genre the film I chose to look at is “Bridget Jones Diary by Helen Fielding. I chose this particular film because I have watched it before so remember it well which is the same as the period drama film that I analysed “The Others” with watching this film before and remembering it, it will become useful when it comes to talking about the narrative structure and technical aspects. I watched the middle part of the film of Bridget Jones Diary.
Bridget Jones Diary is a comedy film which was produced in 2001. The part of the film I watched is the middle part. The middle part is from chapter 14-15 which isn’t very long but it feeds you enough information to give you an idea at what happens in the start and end of the film and the way it is structured. The middle of the film that I watched is linear because it is shown in order. The film is ordered chronologically, the middle part starts of showing Bridget Jones played by Renée Zellweger walking into what looks like an office with Hugh Grant who plays Daniel Cleaver, he is reading some paper work and walking back into his office, the man tells her to go home and take a bath, then they will have dinner later as they are talking to each other there is a bang in the background, at this moment Bridget Jones is suspicious of what it was thinking someone else is in the building as well as Daniel Cleaver. Bridget walks off down the hallway to see if she can find out what the bang noise was. Bridget and Daniel Cleaver agree to have dinner later whilst Daniel Cleaver finishes some more work for an hour and then he will go to her house for dinner. As Bridget is leaving she walks past the coat rack to see a pink sparkly cardigan hanging up in the hallway, she immediately stops thinks for a second and runs back up the stairs as Daniel Cleaver is calling her as he then runs back up the stairs chasing after her. Bridget storms to Daniel Cleaver bedroom through the door and opens the en-suit bathroom door. Whist the door is opening the shot speed becomes very slow, at the same time there is calm music playing which creates an effect on the viewers creating tension and anticipation with the soothing music leaving us wanting to carry on watching. As Bridget opens the en-suit bathroom she sees another woman Lara played by Lisa Barbuscia sat on the edge of the bath holding an extremely large book in front of her. The music carries on playing creating more anticipation as the camera pans around slowly to show both reactions on the Lara and Bridget’s faces, they both look shocked and angry. The camera keeps focusing back and forth onto Lara and Bridget showing their reactions whilst the camera focuses on Bridget we can see from a far distance that Daniel Cleaver is walking up behind her not knowing what to say.  The camera then focuses onto Daniel Cleaver leaving the woman just in focus. Whilst Daniel Cleaver is explaining to Bridget who the woman is, Lara acts all innocent. Bridget turns to Daniel Cleaver looking at him very cross whilst the camera focuses on Bridget waiting for an answer from Daniel.
The techniques used to tell the story is that it follows a women looking for a perfect relationship with her new boyfriend when it all goes wrong. At the start of chapter 14 when there is a mid shot of Bridget and Daniel walking into an office/ work area talking about how Bridget wanted to see a friendly face and she wants to see him gives us a sense of feeling that Bridget is his girlfriend straight away. The film Bridget Jones Diary is a realist film, more realistic on the love front. Bridget Jones Diary has an opening ending to chapter 15 as it isn’t the end to the whole film it is only the end to the middle scenes, so therefore it leaves us on a cliff hanger, leaving the audience with a mixture of questions on what happens next.

Technical Aspects.
The technical Aspects used in the middle part of Bridget Jones Diary are, the camera work. This is a noticeable feature during the middle part, chapters 14-15. There are techniques used such as; Mid shots when characters are walking, zooming shots are used to lead to close ups which grab the viewers attention more, Extreme close ups are used to show characters facial expressions which lead to over the shoulder shots of the characters talking , long shots are also used. Long shots are used to show certain scenes, when the characters are talking generally and walking, like when Daniel and Bridget are walking into Daniel’s office talking about arranging dinner(0.38.51) as they start talking the camera then goes into a panning shot of them walking and standing talking (0.38.52) Zooming shots are also used especially at the beginning of chapter 14 when Daniel and Bridget are stood talking, when there is a sudden banging sound in the background, at this point  we see a close up of Daniels face trying to convince Bridget that no-one else is in the flat but them (0.39.05) Bridget then turns around to look around her but she doesn’t see anything, as she turns back to look at Daniel we see she has an unhappy and suspicious facial expression as she starts questioning Daniel because she is convinced that someone else is in his flat.  (0.38.52). The zooming shot then leads up to an extreme close up of Bridget’s face as she gives Daniel a suspicious look and questioning him. There are only a few long shots used in the middle part like when Bridget is walking to Daniels bedroom with Daniel following her whilst the camera shows and over shoulder shot (0.39.19) after she hears the banging sound in the background of them talking because she thinks someone else is in Daniels flat but as she storms through the door she doesn’t see anyone so thinks nothing of it, the camera shows a quick long shot of Bridget stood there in Daniels bedroom but then it cuts to a jump cut and a mid shot of Daniel smirking at Bridget (0.39.21) Close up shots are used frequently throughout chapters 14&15 to show the characters emotions, this is noticeable a lot of the times not only seeing all of the characters faces but when Bridget doesn’t see anyone else in Daniels bedroom she seems distraught and doesn’t know what to do, feeling like she’s losing her mind. (0.39.24) the other close up shot that is noticeable is when Bridget is leaving Daniels office so she can go home and prepare for their dinner later and as she is walking past the coat rack by the front door, Daniel hands he bag to her when she turns around and then she sees the pink sparkly cardigan hanging up so she storms back up the stairs (0.40.11). Some shots are very obvious but others aren’t so obvious during the middle part of the film. During some scenes there are slow motions used which is noticeable and obvious that they have been edited to add special effects, the slow motions used create suspense and anticipation to the audience making them want to carry on watching the film to find out what happens next, As I’ve stated before (0.40.23). There is also soft soothing music playing which also creates anticipation on the audience along with the cinematic effects.
Throughout the middle part of the film the lighting doesn’t really change dramatically, as the lighting is generally natural throughout chapter 14/15. The middle part engages its audience because of the cinematic effects used the anticipation and the suspense keeping the audience’s interest levels up. The middle part engages its audience because it has no horror or crime in so it’s a typically funny film being a comedy genre.  There are a few noticeable edited scenes as you can see they have been edited the way they are shown because you can see the effects used like when there is a slow motion shot of Bridget stood in the door way of Daniels bathroom because there is another woman in there like she thought when she heard the banging sound in the background of them talking. Like I stated before at this point not only does the cinematic effect used create anticipation and suspense of the audience but the music that you can hear at this point does because as an audience you are expecting the character to speak straight away or do something horrible to the other character but in actual fact there is a moment of silence before Bridget speaks, the music also prepares the audience to expect something to happen like in the film The Others and Oceans Thirteen.
These Cinematic techniques used to create an effective meaning to the audience and making them want to carry on watching with the cinematic effects used, also creates suspense but also excitement for its audience because it draws them in whilst they are watching the film. I couldn’t see any noticeable scripting that the characters used but the other noticeable cinematic technique I could notice was the editing that I mentioned before.  The suspense that I stated before with the cinematic effects are noticeable to building a story as it is shown in chronological order, the same as the film The others.

Crime Drama- Oceans Thirteen

Narrative Structure.
The third genre I chose to look at is crime drama, within this genre I found a list of movies and television programmes that are crime drama genre, out of that list I chose “Ocean Thirteen” by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, to watch and analyse. I started to watch the whole film as I haven’t seen it before, and this would give me a clear knowledge of what the films about and assist when writing about the narrative structure and the technical aspects. I chose to watch the whole of the film and then focus on a certain scene.

Oceans thirteen is a crime drama film which was produced in 2007. The part of the film I watched was part one, which was the first half of the scene. By watching the whole film and then the first half again, it gives you a clear insight into how the rest of the film follows on and the way it’s structured. The film Oceans Thirteen is a non-linear film as it follows in chronological order. The film starts of following George Clooney who plays Danny Ocean sliding down a rope into a toy store as the camera follows him through the toy store, through a hole that has been damaged in the wall; once Danny Ocean goes into the room he receives a phone call so he says he has to go to the two other men stood in the room as they’re looking all confused. We then see Danny Ocean walking out of the toy store in a suit, into what looks like an airport to get into an aeroplane. We see Danny Ocean get into the aeroplane looking for someone as he sits down. He then starts talking to another man. The next shot we see is them landing at another air port, they exit the aeroplane and walk towards a car as they’re meet by another man who drives the car. Their talk is about someone in hospital. So as a view I assume they are leaving the airport to go to the hospital to visit this person. The camera then jumps to a shot of a hospital room where we see the men’s other family members already there by his side talking to a doctor treating him.  It then jumps to a flash back of the man Reuben Tishkoff (Elliot Gould) who’s in hospital 4 weeks earlier (3:40) showing what was happening before he was in hospital. The scene keeps flashing back to the people suggested family stood around Ruben’s hospital bed and to what was happening 4 weeks earlier.  After that it then jumps to six months later (9:40) showing a shot of a man walking through a town. I watched the first scene which was 30:00 minutes long.
The techniques used to tell the story is that it follows George Clooney who plays Danny Ocean in a mystery scene investigation then jumping to him going to hospital to visit someone, we see him as a bad person but when he goes to visit someone in hospital we see him as a sweet, kind and caring person, this is very deceiving to its audience making them think a characters something they’re not. At the start of the film there is a close up of Danny Ocean sliding down a rope into an airport toy store as he walks away from the rope we see the camera zooming out getting further away from him as it suddenly follows him in a mid shot through the store and through a hole that has been knocked through in the wall. At this point we get the sense that Danny Ocean is very angry with something or upset about something that has happened in the past or has just happened and he wants to find out something. This film Ocean’s thirteen is an anti-realist film. This has an open ending as it is the opening scene leaving us wondering what happens next.
Technical Aspects.
The technical aspects used in the opening scene of Oceans Thirteen are, the camera work which is noticeable a considerable large amount of times throughout the first 30 minutes of the film such as a mid shots of specific things or characters, panning shots following people, long shots of characters walking, jump cuts cutting scenes of characters walking or in a motor vehicle, close ups of characters sitting down, talking and showing their facial expressions. High angles shots of characters in certain places and dramatic moments. There are also zooming shots used to also show the characters facial expressions whether they are talking or not. The mid shot used that I noticed was as the film starts of there is a mid shot of a toy shop. (0:32).There is also a mid shot of the man dressed in black putting the metal object onto the magnetic display which looks like a safe that he is trying to find out the code for (1:04). The other mid shot that is noticeable is of Danny Ocean taking of the balaclava and answering his phone which is ringing (1:25). Panning shots are also used especially at the start of the film when we see George Clooney as Danny Ocean dressed all in black clothing sliding down a rope into a toy store as the camera then pans around him, following him through the toy store. (0:37) there is also another noticeable panning shot of two men walking and talking at an air port once they have got out of the aeroplane at an airport. They are greeted by another man who is picking them up, they then walk over to a car that is waiting to pick them up. (2:38). The long shot that is noticeable is the scene where Danny Ocean is walking up to the aeroplane to meet another man (1:43)at this time in the scene there is also a jump cuts used to show Danny walking up to the aeroplane and getting in to find a seat. (2:00) At this point the jump cut is noticeable because we see him walking to the aeroplane one minute then we see him getting into the aeroplane to find a seat. The close ups used in the film are when Danny gets on the aeroplane and we see a close up of another man sat in a seat waiting for him (2:02) There is also an over the shoulder shot at this point showing Danny Ocean talking to the other man as the camera is focused onto the other man who’s sat in the seat listening to him. The last noticeable camera work used throughout the opening scene is high angle shots of people crowded around a hospital bead as if they’re visiting someone. (3:06). After the scene of people crowded around a hospital bed at (3:06) we then see a noticeable flash back which says “flash back to 4 weeks earlier” when the man wasn’t in hospital. The flash back shows us what the man was like when he wasn’t in hospital and what was happening at that stage.
Throughout the opening scene the light changes dramatically, this is the same for the period drama film I watched and analysed called “The Others” as the lighting in the film starts of very dark and gloomy where you can just make out shapes, it then switches to being very bright but still gloomy as Danny Ocean walks outside because it is night time, but it goes back to being very bright when Danny Ocean is in the aeroplane. With the lighting changing dramatically this gives us a very eerie feeling/ effect, this keeps the audiences interest levels high, as the opening scene engages the audience with the crime used. At the start of the film when Danny Ocean is sliding down the rope into the toy store and walking through the toy store with something in his hand, this prepares the audience for the crime as it gives us the feeling something bad is going to happen because Danny Ocean is dressed all in black with a balaclava on walking through a toy store, and putting something onto a safe so he can get the code to get into the safe for whatever is in there. The first 30 minutes of the film feeds enough information to the audience to make them engaged in what’s happening, like the film “The Others” this creates anticipation at the same time which draws the audience in to making them want to carry on.
The cinematic techniques used create a valuable significance to its audience as well as drawing them into watching more of the film as the first 30 minutes leaves you on a cliff hanger which also creates suspense and anticipation to carry on watching the film.
When watching the first 30 minutes of the film I couldn’t see much noticeable editing used, the only thing I picked up on was at the start where there is text at the bottom left of the screen saying where about the location is. (0:34) and when there are flash back because there is white writing on a red background that animate across the screen telling us that it’s a flash back. (03:36) and (09:40). I could also tell there was noticeable scripting used as like the others some characters paused before saying their lines which is also a continuity thing throughout the film. The suspense and eeriness which I mentioned before along with the cinematic effects are noticeable to building a story as the film is showing in non-chronological order, which is effective to the audience as they can follow what’s happening at certain times and still remember what’s happened.

Docu-Drama- The Social Network

Narrative Structure.
The second genre I chose to look at is drama-documentary, within this genre I found a list of movies and television programmes that are drama- documentary genre, so out of the list I chose to watch and analyse “The social Network”- by Aaron Sorkin. First of I started watching the whole film again then I chose to look at 1 particular scene.
The social network is a docu-drama and was released on 15th October 2010. I watched the whole of the film and then focused mainly on the opening scene, when it introduces the film. Although the opening scene isn’t very long it still shows a lot of narrative structure and technical aspects which you can pick up on really well. When watching back through the opening scene (up to 5:15) I realised that the film has a non-linear narrative.  The film is non-linear because it starts of following in sequence then flashes back to other scenes; the film is shown in non-chronological order. The film starts of showing a male character and a female character (Erika) sat at a table in a pub talking about general things as they are dating then all of a sudden the female character has a go at the male character telling him they are not together anymore. We see Erika walk off in a mood as the male character is left annoyed and upset not knowing what to say. The talking goes on for about 5 minutes 10 seconds. Then it changes scenes and goes to a mid shot of the Thirsty Scholar Pub and the rest of the town as it is showing the beginning credits which are then introducing the film.
The techniques used in the film to tell the story are that it follows a boy who is at uni and shares a flat with his uni friends. The boy is trying to get his way with a girl called Erika and start up a social networking site as he is quite brainy when it comes to using computers. At the start of the film it shows the film sponsor and then fades into a mid shot of Erika the female character and male character sat in a pub with two beers and a background scene of a general pub. They are talking to each other about their lives and other general conversation. This makes us as a viewer see they are going out with each other because of the way they act and speak to each other. Towards the end of their conversation Erika says that she wants to be straight with the male character and to let him know that they are not dating anymore, as he said is he gets into the finals club then he would take her to the events and gatherings and tells her she would be meeting people she doesn’t usually meet, as they are dating but shortly after this is when the female character (Erika) says they are not dating anymore and it is over, however the male character questions her asking if it is a joke and wants to know why, so she explains, the male character then tries to apologise for saying they are only in the pub because she used to sleep with the door guy but it is actually a friend of her, whilst she gets angry shouting at him he tries to calm her down. 3:10-5:02 Whilst they are talking there are over shoulder shots used to show who’s talking at what time, then as Erika tells the male character the truth about why girls won’t like him at 5:01 we see a close up of her face showing facial expressions, at this point we can see she is not only upset but annoyed too. The camera then focuses on the male character showing a mid shot from 5:02 when Erika is walking away from him. As he gets up and walks away we hear classical music playing softly still hearing the general talking in the background. There is also voice over used in parts of the film when the characters are thinking the voice over is used to show us they are thinking and not talking. The social network film is a realist film that also as well as the others, the opening scene of the social network leaves us on a cliff hanger as the film is introduced so we don’t know what happens next innless we carry on watching it further.

Technical Aspects.
The technical aspects used in the opening scene of the social network are, the camera work. The camera work is very noticeable in varies places throughout this scene. There are technical aspects such as: Over should shots and close ups when characters are speaking to illustrate their facial expressions and irritated moments when the characters are in disagreement or being serious when debating, like when they’re arguing with each other (1: 45-2:26). There is also a close up of the male character as Erika walks away from him and the classical music starts playing which then goes into a panning shots of the town and the cars which is also where the camera follows the male character leaving the pub and going back to his apartment.  (5:01-5:30) After that the camera then jumps to a high angled shot of the male character running  back to his apartment, with the classical music still playing, this makes the audience/ viewers feel sorry for the male character as the classical music sets the scene. The long shot is used to show the male character running down a road which is not very well lit (6:24-6:29) The mid shot that is used in the opening scene is the one of the male character walking up to his apartment door. (7:20-7:28).
The cinematic techniques used create an effective meaning to its audience, making them want to carry on watching it as; it leaves us on a cliff hanger because the ending of the opening scene is an opening ending. As it’s an opening ending leaving the audience on a cliff hanger it creates anticipation and at the same time excitement, and with the tension used to draw them in, it makes the audience want to carry on watching it.
When watching the opening scene of the social network, I couldn’t see any noticeable editing that had been used, however I picked up on the noticeable scripting as when Erika and the male character are debating and arguing there are pauses that are noticeable before they say their next lines. This is only a reoccurring thing throughout the opening scene.  The suspense and cinematic effects that I stated before, build a story which is shown in non-chronological order.

Period Drama- The Others.

Narrative Structure.
The fist genre I chose to look at is Period drama, I chose this genre because the film that is a period drama is “The others by Alejandro Amenábar” I chose this one because it is a film that I’ve watched and remembered well, so it will be useful when talking about the narrative structure and technical aspects in depth. I watched the opening scene (part 1) to the others.
“The others” is a period drama film which was produced in 2001. The part of the film I watched was part 1, which is the opening scene. The opening scene isn’t very long but it gives you a good insight into how the rest of the film will be shown and the way it is structured. The opening scene I watched is linear because it is shown in order. The film is ordered chronologically and starts off showing Grace Stewart who plays Nicole Kidman; waking up from a nightmare screaming in Jersey 1945, as Grace Stewart gets up it, it cuts to showing three people walking up to Grace’s house talking and laughing. The three people get to the house and the woman knocks on the door. We hear Grace unlocking the door and then we see her opening it asking who the three people are, letting them in and wanting them to introduce themselves. After the women, man and child have introduced themselves Grace takes them on a tour showing them all of her house and telling them strict information that they must follow at all times whilst they are there. Grace then tells the man that he is ready to go off and do the gardening sending him outside to start the gardening, whilst she get’s the women and daughter to meet her two children Anne and Nicholas, but before they meet Graces children she has to wake them up. Whist the women and daughter are meeting the children, Grace asks the daughter (Lydia) to go downstairs and close the curtains in the kitchen, as it is time for the children to have their breakfast. Grace asks for all the shutters and curtains to be closed because her children are photosensitive so they must only see a small dimmed light. The camera then jumps to the women giving the children breakfast in the kitchen, and shortly after Grace walks in telling her kids off for shouting at each other and asks to speak to the women in private and again gives her strict information at the same time.
The techniques used to tell the story is that it follows Grace telling 3 people about her house and how she wants them to be, being extremely strict with instructions. At the start of the film when there is a close up and zooming out shot of Grace waking up from a nightmare screaming this gives us a feeling that she is having a flash back/nightmare of her husband who is away in the French war. This film the others is an anti-realist film that has an opening ending because it is the opening scene so we are not seeing all of the film which leaves us on a cliff hanger, making its audience question about what will happen next.
Technical Aspects.
The technical aspect used in the opening scene of the others are, the camera work. This is noticeable a lot during this scene there are techniques used such as; Panning shots following the characters walking around, close ups are used on facial expressions, dramatic moments when the characters are talking seriously like when Grace is talking to the women in private (13.28) as Grace shuts the curtains again and then gets the light so she can see her way around. There are close up shots used a lot like when Grace is waking up from a nightmare/ flashback we see an extreme close up of her face. (2:13). Long shots are also used especially at the start of the scene when the three people are walking up to Graces house as it quickly jumps to a close up of them and zooms in following them up to the front door. When the three people are stood at the front door and Grace opens it speaking to them there is over shoulder shots being used as the camera switches back and forth as each of the women and Grace speak. There are only a few mid-shots used such as when the three people are introducing themselves as Grace asks who they are, and if they can work. Panning shots are used frequently when Grace is walking asking the people to follow her and when the women and daughter are stood there waiting for Grace to wake her children up to meet them (8:21). At the end of the scenes when the shots are changing it fades in and out it creates an eerie sense of feeling. Some shots starts of very dark so we can only see silhouettes, and then it gradually gets lighter. There are also low and high angle shots used throughout the opening scene especially at the start when Grace opens the door to see the three people stood there (3:16) and (3:32) these show high shots being used.
Throughout the opening the scene the lighting changes dramatically as it starts of very doom, gloomy and very foggy,  switches to being bright and normal lightening the it goes back to being very dark giving the house a very spine-chilling and spooky effect. Throughout the opening scene there is also a high and recurrent use of dull candle lighting, this give a psychological effect making it incredibly creepy; keeping the audiences interest levels up. This opening scene engages its audience as it uses no horror thriller as well as leaving them covered in total obscurity throughout the film. As the credits fade out the calm soothing music fades out and it going completely silent at the start prepares the audience to expect something to happen. The shot of the house and the people walking up to it when it’s extremely foggy like a blanket covering the sky gives the audience a clue as to where the film is set, feeding the audience enough information to be engrossed in what’s happening creates anticipation at the same time making them want to carry on watching.
These cinematic techniques used create an effective meaning to its audience as well as making them want to watch on with the cliff hanger opening scene (part 1) This also  again creates suspense and excitement at the same time for the audience as once they start watching it, it draws them in with the suspense used.
When watching the opening scene I could see any noticeable editing used but you could tell there was noticeable scripting used with the way the characters pause for a couple of seconds before speaking; this is a continuity thing throughout the film. As I stated before the creepiness and suspense with the cinematic effects are noticeable to building a story as it is shown in chronological order.
